DROWNING IN LOVE
Ever since you taught me how to find fragrant orchids,
to inhale the air and imbibe the color of lush periwinkles
on a rocky shore of Saint Mary’s Bay, I became addicted
to your scent after it rains, and must hold you close
to fill my lungs with your petrichor aroma.
I will tread water in the days ahead to keep you afloat
with my arms around you as long as the tides never tire
of flowing in and out.
